Sir Ephraim Yitzchak Mirvis, Chief Rabbi
Tower of London Interfaith Iftar
The first-ever Ramadan Iftar in the Tower of London’s 955 years of history. Cardinal Nichols, Chief Rabbi Mirvis, Imam Mahmoud OBE, and Bishop Lusa Nsenga-Ngoy came together to break the Ramadan fast at sunset in a building that, four centuries ago, would execute people for small differences in their Christianity.
The Tower, once a site of religious persecution, becomes a meaningful setting for a display of interfaith harmony, highlighting how far society has come in embracing tolerance and mutual respect. These portraits are a deliberate reminder of the past while offering hope for a future built on understanding and cooperation across all faiths and none.
