Cairo Old Town
This was a personal project where I went out for a walk though old town Cairo (Egypt) with documentary street photographer Aly Hazzaa @alyhazzaa and I was drawn to the many people making and creating objects for sale right by the street. I also realised that in my free time, when I’m not being paid to take pictures of people, I go out and take pictures of people.
Thank you to the makers: Ahmed the embroider, Dewal the bread shop owner with the cool tree growing out the front of the shop, Tampr and his son Mustafa and all at the metal work shop, the Dye shop family, Ahmed and his busy bread making shop, Said the Mosque attendant, Hasan the mattress maker, the hardworking stonecutters, Ahmed the grocery store owner and Adil the bar owner. Thank you for letting me glimpse into your lives!
